Tatjana Zajec graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Zagreb in 2001, and completed a postgraduate specialisation in Surgery, Orthopaedics and Ophthalmology with Anaesthesiology in 2012.She began her professional career as a shelter veterinarian, and since 2004 has been working as the manager of the Animal Shelter Zagreb.
Since 2017, she has been a member of the Presidency of the Croatian Small Animal Veterinary Section, where she is responsible for animal welfare and also works as a lecturer in Shelter Medicine.
She is currently completing her final year as a member of the FVE/UEVP Animal Welfare Working Group and serves on commissions for amendments to animal welfare legislation on behalf of the Croatian Veterinary Chamber.
Outside her professional work, she is also a certified mountain guide with the Croatian Mountain Guide Association. She lives with her partner Hrvoje, two cats, Jado and Peggy, and Sisi, a retired educational dog who previously worked with children.
