.Alida Brkan is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine with several years of experience in small animal clinical practice, as well as in civil society organisations. She joined the Dogs Trust Bosnia and Herzegovina Foundation in 2023 as a Veterinary Coordinator, where she was responsible for monitoring spay and neuter programmes in cooperation with partner veterinary organisations, as well as coordinating and supporting the implementation of veterinary training programmes as part of the broader work of the Dogs Trust Foundation in establishing dog population management strategies in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Since the beginning of 2026, she has been working as an Administrative Officer, supporting programme implementation and coordination of organisational activities.
The dog and cat she shares her home with remind her every day of the importance of the human–animal bond and its role in the wellbeing of both.
