Anda Šandal Karić graduated from the Faculty of Law, University of Sarajevo, and in 2012 obtained a Master’s degree with the thesis “Protection of Animal Welfare in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” after which she also passed the Bar exam.
She is the founder and an active member of the association “Friends of Animals”, which has been operating informally for 16 years, providing assistance to abandoned animals and supporting their rehoming. Since 2021, the association has been officially registered with the Ministry of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina.The association maintains active cooperation with more than 25 animal protection organisations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as with a number of international organisations, including PETA Deutschland.
Through the work of the association, more than 350 legal cases have been initiated before various levels of government with the aim of protecting animal rights. At the same time, the association has enabled hundreds of successful adoptions, providing abandoned animals with safe and happy lives.
